“Use Mindfulness To Be More Skillful” presented by Mark Fingerman, Esq. (1 hour of Competence MCLE credit)

Being skillful as a lawyer requires clarity of both intention and perception. The rigors of practice tend to reduce that clarity, with a cascading effect that adversely impacts a lawyer’s work and clients. In this course, mediator and mindfulness teacher Mark Fingerman will identify and discuss mental issues that impair a lawyer’s ability to practice skillfully, and basic mindfulness practices which reduce that impairment. These simply practices develop the ability to calmly focus on what matters, to thoughtfully respond rather than emotionally react, to have better relations, to live with less stress and to have an easier time getting better results at whatever you do.

“Counterintuitive Mediation & Ethics” presented by Daniel Ben-Zvi, Esq. (1 hour of Ethics MCLE credit)

Mr. Ben-Zvi will present counterintuitive insights into successful mediations, ethics, duties of counsel, advocacy, confidentiality, effective processes and settlement.  Mr. Ben-Zvi is a respected mediator and arbitrator with ADR Services, Inc. and the American Arbitration Association.  He has successfully mediated over 2000 disputes since 1995.  He is a “warrior-turned-peacemaker,” drawing on over 20 years of experience as a trial lawyer, to aid him in crafting creative settlements.  He is a “Distinguished Fellow” with the International Academy of Mediators and One of 32 “Power Mediators” worldwide per the Hollywood Reporter.   He co-authored the book “Inside the Minds—Alternative Dispute Resolution” and writes articles and frequently lectures on dispute resolution.
