LOS ANGELES -PRESS RELEASE - June 15, 2009

In light of most recent news and reports from Iran related to the demonstrations and protests of the Iranian people in Iran in opposition to the legitimacy of the presidential election results and the documented and broadcasted continued and ongoing Human Rights violations of the unprecedented number of Iranian protesters, the Iranian American Lawyers Association (“IALA”) joins other organizations and associations calling on and demanding from the United Nations and other Human Rights organizations to appoint an Independent Commission to immediately look into the ongoing Human Rights violations of the peaceful protesters in Iran, to demand an immediate stop of all Human Rights violations of the demonstrators and to investigate and address the voting irregularities in order to respect the vote of the Iranian people.

A great number of world leaders have voiced their concerns about these issues and we strongly urge other legal and lawyers organizations and associations in other cities and countries to join in this effort to demand an Independent Commission and to an immediate stop off all Human and Civil Rights by contacting the United Nations, Human Rights Watch and their respective representatives in the U.S. House of Representative and the United States Senate.
