Orange County CA – (November 8, 2006) The Iranian American Lawyers Association congratulates Deputy District Attorney Sheila Hanson in her winning the Orange County Superior Court judge's race.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Sheila Hanson beat out Lyle J. Robertson, Orange County Superior Court Commissioner since 1991, for a judicial seat, making her the first Iranian-American judge in Orange County.
Sheila Hanson received her Bachelor of Science in Law from Western State University and graduated from Western State University College of Law 1988. She spent 17 years with the District Attorney's Office and during her career, has prosecuted 80 jury trials and in January 2007, she will assume the seat on the Superior Court bench.
Iranian-American Judges currently serve on the bench of the Los Angeles (Honorable Soussan Bruguera, Honorable Tamila Ebrahimi Ipema), San Bernardino County Superior Courts (Honorable Shahla Sabet) and San Mateo county Superior Court (Honorable Susan Irene Etezadi) as well as Federal immigration courts (Honorable Gita Vahid-Tehrani and Honorable A. Ashley Tabaddor) in Los Angeles.
